North London Citizens brings together schools, faith groups, universities and charities across North London and North West London. These local institutions work together to bring about real change on the issues that matter most to their communities – from safer streets, to affordable housing, to fair pay and welcoming refugees.

The listening campaign will run throughout 2025, with the aim of hearing from people across North London and North West London about the pressures facing them and their families. Universities including University College London and City St George’s, University of London are taking part, alongside Sheffield Hallam University, which is opening a new campus in Brent Cross in autumn 2026. The findings will shape a community-led agenda ahead of the 2026 London elections.

Through previous campaigns, North London Citizens has secured significant wins. Local schools helped lead the push for Google to become a real Living Wage employer. Faith leaders and university staff worked together to persuade Barnet Council to resettle Syrian and Afghan families fleeing war and persecution.

“Our students and staff are excited to take part, and it’s important for young people to know that their voices matter. Listening is where change begins.” Noelle Doona, Assistant Headteacher at Hendon School
